Greeting Heroclix Fans,
We have some big news to share with you today. ROC is going Silver and we are doing it with WizKids support. That’s right! The ROC/WizKids program that has been on pause for two years is now resuming. Parts of our upcoming events will be familiar, and parts will be fresh. We look forward to experiencing it right along with all of our players! There will be follow up announcements with further details over the next few weeks. For now, here’s the things a future ROC Champion will want to know:
• Format: As refenced in the first line, ROC is going Silver, and that means our official format is Silver Age for these events.
• What’s Silver Age? Silver Age begins with Superior foes of Spider-Man but to simplify it: All cards that have the dial on the back of the card are legal for play. Keep your eyes peeled for clarifications to the Watch List leading up to official events.
• Map Legality: WizKids maps beginning with Superior Foes of Spider-Man and ROC maps beginning in January 2019 will be used for our legal play list. A complete list of Silver Age legal and Silver Age non legal maps will be posted on the ROC website. As usual, some maps, especially those with special rules, will be prohibited.
• Further Map Legality: ROC Maps with the WizKids logo will be Silver Age legal for ROC and WizKids. This includes prize maps and purchasable maps.
• Prize Map Availability: All ROC prize maps will be made available for purchase in the Gamermats store at a later date. This will be no greater than 3 months after release. This will insure proper distribution to players. The purchasable map will be cosmetically different from the prize map.
• Points: WKO points that players have accumulated are now active. These points allowed you to qualify for WizKids Nationals and Worlds. There is a big change though, at least for this year. Instead of 100 points needed to get in Nationals and 200 to enter Worlds, those are now 25 to Nationals and 50 to Worlds. Thank you WizKids!
• The ROC Cup will continue to be in May every year. Last year we ran a very successful event online with Scott Porter to raise money for charity. This year we will be live at Lucky Dice Café and Scott Porter will be there with us. The Heroes for Huntington’s tournament will be a Silver Age National Championship with all proceeds going to Huntington’s. We will also be running a Silver Age Teams constructed tournament with an extreme highlander rule along with side events and Battle Royales. One dollar per each entry from these events will also go to Huntington’s. There will also be a charity auction that will be both live and online with all proceeds going to Huntington’s. We will begin Thursday night May 5th and end that Sunday on May 8th. Expect unbelievable prizing!
• The Silver Watch list is being updated now by WizKids with errata and bans. This will be released by WizKids very soon.
• For Stores: Win-A-Map kits will be available for purchase as soon as all product is received. That looks like April. Win-A-Map online events will begin in April. Qualifier Kits will be available for purchase in April but will not be scheduled prior to June 1st. ROC States will occur in the 4th quarter of this year.
• To kick things off there will be Regional events occurring in late April that will feed directly into the ROC Cup Heroes for Huntington’s Silver Age National Championship. Winners of these tournaments qualify into the ROC Cup Finals. These events will be a Silver Age 300-point tournament with Battle Royale side events. Locations for these events are:
o April 23 Kilted Classic, Kokomo Indiana
o April 23 Highlander Games, Boonton New Jersey
o April 23 Space Cadets Gaming Gaming, Oak Ridge North, Texas
o April 16 Lucky Dice Café, Huntsville Alabama
o April 23 Gongaii Games, Beaverton Oregon
o April 30, House Rules Gaming, Kissimmee Florida
o April 23, The Comic Dimension, Greensboro North Carolina
o April 30, Smetch Rat Games, Longmont Colorado
o April 30, Comic Cult. Torrance California
That should just about cover everything initially. Oh wait, you may want to hear about the prizing.
